Peter Bickford is an independent counselor and arbitrator focusing particularly in the areas of insurance and reinsurance operational, regulatory and solvency issues. In addition to being a practicing attorney for over 40 years, he has been an officer of both a life insurance company and a property/casualty insurance and reinsurance facility with line responsibility for its contract and claims operations. He is an ARIAS-U.S. certified arbitrator. umpire and neutral arbitrator.

Peter was the author of a regular column, Insight, which premiered in the May 21, 2012 issue of Insurance Advocate magazine. The column focused on statutory and regulatory developments as they affected the insurance business, particularly in New York and nationally. In February 2010, a Working Group of industry and regulatory representatives was established to consider reviving a New York based syndicated insurance risk exchange, intended to be a Lloyd’s type insurance market in the US. Because of the interest in the exchange project, a section devoted to the project, including historical documents and materials on the original New York Insurance Risk Exchange, has been added to this site.
